Language and communication is at the heart of society. Learning how to use language to communicate wants and have needs met can be a complex task for many children. Our course will explore how language develops and the intricate challenges many children face who experience a variety of physical, emotional and cognitive difficulties.

The article was interesting but sent up some concerns for me. I was concerned that they physician would not be well trained in what to look for and children may be label to soon or that they may not be diagnosed at all when they should have been. The early screening, twice by age two, must be regulated and physicians properly trained.
The link on the article was GREAT! The Autism Speak website had some informative video clips about the early screening and intervention.
Thanks for posting the article link. I actually printed it out because I found that it brought up some good points. I think that the current media focus in one way is great. However, as the article points out, there are several children who simply take longer to develop who are not autistic.
