OK, So after class on Monday I had some things to think about... I had not been watching the news lately come to find out some pretty sad things have been going on. I have never been one to judge someone because of the race, religion, sexuality, or financial status, but to see that the world is still behind is depressing to me. Why any one person thinks that they are better than another just blows my mind. While sitting here typing this I just wanted to say some thing so that it stays in others minds that the world doesn't do what's fair and as future teachers we have to make it as fair as we can for the students we are helping...

I absolutly have to agree. Just thinking about everything that was said made me sick to my stomach. I mean, we all live in this self enclosed bubble sometimes. I think sometimes I just refuse to see the problems that are going on because I dont want to deal with them. But its obvious, racism, hate, bias....it is still here. I just wish that it could stop. You know? how can we make it stop, once and for all?
I do agree with you. It just blew my mind when she told us about it. I got really sad hearing about. I don't see how someone could do something like that. I do agree with you when you say as future teacher we do have to make things as fair as we can for our students that are in our classes and that we are helping.
I agree with what you said. I can't stand when a child is treated bad and I will never do that. As future teacher we should be the ones to never let bad things happen to students.

I really should watch the news more often, but I find myself "sheltering" myself from all the negative things in the world. I watch the news on occasion, but most days I feel like there's nothing positive to see anymore (on the news anyway). It's always so depressing to see the violence in schools and homes, the new developments on the war in Iraq, it all seems so negative.
On the other hand, I should keep up with the news more often simply to catch the positive things they do throw in there, about students breaking test score records, schools fighting for their arts and music programs, teachers finally being recognized, extraordinary children, pets, people. It's not often that there is a positive story on the news, so I guess it must be worth hearing the sad stories first....
