I like the group activity. I like doing things that are 'hands-on'. Its the way I learn. I am not a text book reader. I DO read but having activities in a group setting really bring the material into a concept that is easier to grasp. All of my classes this semester have daily group activities and projects, its different but enjoyable.
In a group setting you have to be open-minded, you cant 'hog' the entire lesson. I have a domineering personality and know this about myself and am able to sit back and listen to others. You learn more when you listen. Others think differently and bring a unique perspective to ideas. I like hearing other peoples take on lessons and group activities, you most always learn something new.
One thing I do not like in group work is when you have an assignment and people are absent and when they come to class they want to have input on ideas that were decided by the students who were present and already decided which route the group is taking.

Because you have a userid different from your name you will need to let me know what it is so I can give you credit for your posts.
Mrs. White
I have to agree with you, that i enjoy doing hands on group activties as well, because like you said i am not a text book reader. I learn better when i have examples, and when i listen and take in what exactly my peers say. Like i said i thoroughly enjoy doing activities that are hands on because it helps me have a better understanding of what is being applied.
Its Angela Corey. I didnt realize my userid came up instead of my name. I will change that.
I hope that each group I am in is open to all suggestions from all members. I know in our group, there was some dissention and people werent open to other's ideas. After class, some expressed they felt intimidated to share their ideas after being shut down. I hope all group members treat eachother as they wish to be treated. Sometimes we miss classes, but we could have something wonderful to add to the group when we return.
I think that cooperation, understanding others opinions, and respect are some good aspects of group work. I have in the past not enjoyed group work. I have come to enjoy team work, were everone works together as a team for the best interests of all involved.
I will not participate if I feel as though someone will not be open to others opinions.
