Thanksgiving
With the Thanksgiving holiday approaching I really like to look at my life and give thanks to all that I have been blessed with. This class really makes me appreciate that I do not have to face many of the hurdles we discuss in class. I just wanted to hear what others are thankful for and get in the spirit of Thanksgiving. I hope everyone has a wonderful break and are able to spend time with the ones they love.

I try to be thankful for the people in my life everyday. Even though that does not always happen. I really enjoy the holidays were I can see my family and gain a lot of weight. Even though most of the time it seems to be a hassle. I hope that everyone has a great thanksgiving and eats a lot of turkey!
I am thankful that my father is doing better (we found out he had lymphatic cancer over the summer). I am thankful that even though I'm sick right now that my son is'nt anymore. I am thankful that my family can afford to have thanksgiving dinner, which is why we're going to (hopefully, if I'm not still sick) volenteer at the meals on wheels dinner on Thursday. I am thankful that my cousins came back safetly from Iraq. I am thankful that I am lucky enough to have a family who loves me and supports me. I am thankful for financial aid so that I can go to college. But, what I am most thankful for is that God created me and put me on this Earth to live my life with my wonderful son.

I have so many things that I am thankful for that I sometimes take them for granted and just assume that I will always have them. I am thankul for my life. At times it is difficult and I don't want to get up but I have a life filled with love. So for that I am thankful. I am thankful for my best friend nicole, she has been there for me through a lot and never stops caring. I love her. she is a true best friend. I am thankful for my boyfriend. God has a funny way of working sometimes but he did it just right by bringing him to me when I needed it most. I am thankful for my 3 brothers, 1 sister, niece and nephew. I never realzied until I moved away from them just how much I will always need them. I am thankful for my dad. He is strong and teaches me to be strong. I am thankful for all of the things I have in life like college, a place to lay at night, and food in my stomach. Everyday I have all of these great things but sometimes I forget that they are there. But at thanksgiving I realize just how lucky I am.

I could go on forever!!! I am very thankful for many things in my life!!!
Growing up my family had a tradition that during Thanksgiving Dinner we would go around the table and each tell at least one thing that we were thankful for. Two years ago this past September my world came to a crashing halt. A very unexplainable and unforeseeable event occurred. My brother, who was seventeen at the time, was found to be under the influence of drugs while at school. Officials made the decision to release my brother to my parents instead of taking him to a juvenile facility. My brother was a good kid who had NEVER gotten into any trouble before. From that point on I do not know much about the events that conspired that day, only God and those involved do. But on September 20, 2005 my brother shot and killed my mother, father, and grandmother. My brother then fled the scene, he then crashed the truck he was driving killing a driver of another car as well as himself. My whole world was turned upside down. I lost almost everything that day. I had never really experienced death, no one close to me had ever died and then I lost practically my entire family all in one day. My other brother was not home at the time this event took place. He had gotten off the school bus to go to work at the grocery store he worked at after school (I job that I am truly grateful he had). You would think that experiencing something as horrific as this tragedy that I would be angry or upset with God, but I wasn’t and I still am not. Although, I do not understand why this event took place I do know that God has a plan for everything in life. We do not always know what that plan is nor do we always understand why things occur but we must trust and believe that God does. I believe that God never gives you more than you can handle and that if he brings you to something that he will bring you through it. So not only on this Thanksgiving but every day I try to let myself as well as God know what I am thankful for. I am thankful for each and every day that I got to spend with my family; each and everyone of them. I am thankful for the values and the traditions that they instilled within me. I am thankful for the person that I have become because of the life that I have experienced. I am thankful for my wonderful husband who has been with me through the highest of highest and the lowest of lowest. I am thankful for each day that the Lord blesses me with. I am thankful for my education and the fact that come May I will have a degree in elementary education and can begin my career as an educator. I am thankful that one day I will be able to go to Heaven and be with my Savior and all those that have went before me. I am thankful for my friends and my family. I am thankful that the semester is almost over and that I get a small break. And I am thankful that I live in a part of the world that I can tell my story and how God helped me through it and how that I hope that each of you can experience the love of God each and everyday.
